Hello everyone, and welcome to the new Interference From The Sky!

First of all, happy new year to all of you. As we’ve said before, 2012 will be a big year for our Patrick Watson fan community, as we were planning to update the website completely, and well, we did!

Starting today, this Tumblr page will be the new home of Interference From The Sky. A lot has changed, but don’t be afraid that you have missed out on something. Let’s start at the beginning:

What’s Interference From The Sky?

Interference From The Sky is a fan community dedicated to the Canadian band Patrick Watson. It’s also a song by that same band. It’s the b-side for The Great Escape. Our fan community serves the people that are interested in this band and want to stay up to date about everything that happens around them, like new tour dates, new songs that are played live, the upcoming new album and recordings of shows.

What has changed?

Until last week, our website, http://www.patrick-watson.net, pointed to a portal, which was connected to a forum. The forum is still there, but the portal has vanished. This Tumblr page will be the new home of the website where we will keep you updated with all the news. The forum will now be the place to discuss gigs, music, and other stuff.

What’s new?

Up until today, we used static pages and forum pages for tour dates and setlists. This wasn’t really convenient and very hard to use. While browsing the internet looking for information about one of my other favourite bands, I stumbled upon MuseWiki, a Wiki dedicated to the band Muse. I was really surprised by the ease of use and how it made all the information very accessible and editable by everyone. That’s why, starting today, we are introducing Watson Wiki!

Watson Wiki?

Yep, a MediaWiki dedicated to Patrick Watson. The goal of this Wiki is to gather all the info about the band in one place and make it accessible and editable for everyone. I’ve been working on this for a couple of months now, and it still is far from done, but it’s a nice start. At this moment it has all the tour dates the band has ever played (and which are publicly known), info about the most popular songs and set lists for the gigs where we could find them. In the next couple of weeks, it’ll be regularly updated with info on more songs, info about the albums, the band members and downloadable content like recorded concerts.

2012

We chose to use Tumblr because it’s really easy to use and allows us to post and archive links, news, pictures and videos, so we can really keep you updated. And we need to, because 2012 will, without a doubt, be a really interesting year for Patrick Watson fans. The band will be releasing their new album (a post about what we know about that will follow later this week) and that will probably mean new live dates. Enough reasons to be excited, we think. We hope you are too and we hope you enjoy using the new website.
